Compton Bay
Regularly compared with beaches in Cornwall, Compton beach is one of the Isle of Wight’s best kept secrets. Located in West Wight just off the stunning Military Road, Compton offers a two mile stretch of contrasting golden and dark sands, with rolling seas, tumbling multi-coloured sandstone cliffs, and the white chalk cliffs at Freshwater in the distance.
Popular with walkers, fossil hunters searching for dinosaur bones and footprints and also photographers searching for the perfect sunset. A firm favourite with visitors who like to get off the beaten track, Compton Bay offers safe-bathing, great surfing, windsurfing and other watersports - there are no hire facilities.
Facilities include: Parking on the cliffs, toilets and refreshments in the summer.
