The Pier2Pier Sea Swim Isle of Wight is a 1.8 mile open water event organised by the Isle of Wight Marlins Swim Club, under the auspices of the British Long Distance Swimming Association (BLDSA).
The swim starts adjacent to Sandown Pier and follows along Sandown to Shanklin Bay, a stunning stretch of coastline lined by dramatic sandstone cliffs. The race ends on the beach outside the Shanklin Rowing Club, which is located by the site of the old Shanklin Pier that was destroyed in the gales of 1987.
Family and friends can enjoy a stroll along the Esplanade path that tracks the route of the Pier2Pier Sea Swim, taking in beautiful sandy beaches as well as some delightful coffee and lunch stops along the way!
More than half of the Island is a designated “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”, with its mild climate, stunning coastline and fascinating history, making it the perfect place to stay for a few days either before or after the event.
